Katie Jones is an inspirational knitwear label that teams playful aesthetics with serious ethics! The brand’s #WASTENOT approach utilises designer surplus and celebrates artisanal hand craftsmanship, with all pieces being consciously crafted in the brand’s London studio.

Katie Jones graduated in 2013 from MA Fashion Knitwear at Central Saint Martins under the late Professor Louise Wilson, OBE. Having worked with John Galliano, Diane Von Furstenberg, Mark Fast and Romance was Born, she launched her eponymous label for Autumn/Winter 2014 with the British Fashion Council’s Estethica Emerging Talents.

Embracing Katie’s Granny's vision of making something beautiful from nothing and consciously addressing issues of over-consumerism and landfill, the brand creates wearable, artisanal collections that are big on colour and texture. Materials are sourced from designer surplus, factory seconds, textile waste and British made product; Katie then pairs and tailors designs around the materials available.

Each piece is a labour of love, hand crafted in London by an intimate team of makers including Katie’s Mum, Annie. Traditional and detail intensive processes such as hand dying, crochet, embroidery, deconstruction, unravelling, hand sewing, hand punched leather work and domestic machine knitting mean every piece takes between 10 and 100 hours to make, resulting in a unique garment each time, with a slight variation in colour and feel adding to its individuality. More than just creating beautiful garments, the brand creates playful experiences that encourage and champion social and environmental change.

Katie Jones is stocked by leading international stores in London, China and Japan, and regularly features in the pages of such style titles as Dazed and Confused, AnOther, Vice, The Guardian, Vogue.com and Stylebubble. Katie Jones was part of this years Selfridges Bright New Things initiative championing sustainability, receiving a full window installation for 3 months and went on to win the Bright New Things Bursary Award.
